Hi John I am going to respectfully disagree with you. Neither re-plugging the cables or re-booting help. Neither drive shows up in Finder or Disk Utility. I didn't have time to look into it, but today I realized Time machine couldn't access the other USB drive either there was never a warning about missing backups:( I only discovered the problem when I went to restore a file of code today. I thought everything was working after installing Sierra, but last week I couldn't get to my WD Passport drive where the photos are. One contains my photo library, and the other is for Time machine.
